AJOOMMA
SEAFIC Award Winner

Director He Shuming and producer Tan Si En were awarded the SEAFIC Award for their Singaporean project AJOOMMA

AJOOMMA was awarded with a cash prize of US$15,000, as determined by a three-person international jury after having read the five filmmakers’ latest scripts and hearing their final pitches in person.

The jury members were:

  • Meinolf Zurhorst, Head of Film Department ZDF/ARTE in Germany and co-producer of Lars Von Trier’s ANTICHRIST and UNCLE BOONMEE.

  • Christine Vachon, producer of Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning films CAROL, BOYS DON'T CRY, and FAR FROM HEAVEN.

  • Jacob Wong, director of the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF).

The SEAFIC Award is sponsored by the non-profit Purin Foundation.

AH GIRL
Open SEA Fund Award Winner

Director Ang Geck Geck and producer Fran Borgia were awarded the Open SEA Fund Award for their Singaporean project AH GIRL.

AH GIRL was awarded with a rental credit towards equipment rental from VS Service worth 10,000 USD and post-production services provided by White Light Post worth 15,000 USD.

The Open SEA Fund Award is jointly sponsored by VS Service and White Light Post.

RAISING A BEAST
SEAFIC-TFL Award Winner

Co-producer Steve Arounsack was awarded the SEAFIC-TFL Award for Xaisongkham Induangchanthy’s Laos/US project RAISING A BEAST.

Chosen by Matthieu Darras, the Artistic Director of TorinoFilmLab, the winner was awarded an opportunity to attend the 2017 TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event in November.

This award is a result of the close collaboration between SEAFIC and TorinoFilmLab.

Director Nontawat Numbenchapol and producers Steve Chen and Supatcha Thipsena were awarded the SEAFIC Award for their Thai-Cambodian project DOI BOY

DOI BOY was awarded with a cash prize of US$15,000, as determined by a three-person international jury after having read the five filmmakers’ latest scripts and hearing their final pitches in person.

The jury members were:

  • Christian Jeune, Director of Film Department & Deputy General Delegate, Cannes Film Festival

  • Kini Kim, formerly EVP/Head of International, CJ Entertainment

  • Nansun Shi, Producer and Co-founder of Film Workshop & Distribution Workshop
