Tumpal Tampubolon previously attended Berlinale Talents and Asian Film Academy, and participated in the omnibus BELKIBOLANG, which premiered at Rotterdam Film Festival. In 2014 he won Indonesia’s Citra Award for Best Original Screenplay for writing the fiction TABULA RASA, and in 2017 co-wrote the screenplay 212 WARRIOR, produced by Fox International Productions.
